Happy birthday month fellow April babies! Since one of my primary Love Languages is “gifts”, I put together this ultimate Amazon gift guide of things that are on my upcoming birthday list or things that I asked for last year, got, and loved! While we can’t celebrate special occasions in person right now, I’m loving sending a little pick-me-up to a girlfriend to let them know I’m thinking of them; this gift guide is full of the perfect gifts. I struggled for a bit before putting together this list because it just feels like such a weird time and I’m also purging my home and getting serious about creating an intentional life design but at the end of the day, celebrations aren’t cancelled, special occasions aren’t cancelled, friendship & connection aren’t cancelled and everything on this list I either have and love or can’t wait to hopefully open & use soon!
It’s definitely weird to think about being at home for my birthday and not at one of my favorite restaurants or celebrating with all my loved ones but hey, there are always half birthdays we can celebrate – looking at your October! Let me know if you have an upcoming birthday and what you’re adding to your list. I hope you love these products as much as I do.
Amazon Gift Guide
I got this picnic backpack last year from Matt’s parents and LOVE it! I’ve used it at the park with girlfriends, we took it to Diner en Blanc, it’s great for the beach – really I can’t say enough great things!
It comes with everything you need for a picnic for four, including a blanket, salt & pepper shakers, cutlery, cutting board, cups, and a wine opener! I also love the removable waterproof lining; it makes cleaning up a breeze. The backpack also has an insulated wine bottle holder attachment. All the plates etc. are stored safely in an outside compartment and I find that the inside cooler section is the perfect size to hold your meals or snacks. The straps are padded and comfortable and it’s easy to carry to your event.
This could also be a perfect wedding or engagement gift!
For less than $5 these sunglasses definitely took a top spot on my gift list. They’re so stylish and really flatter my face. I got the all black ones for my birthday and have since gone back and purchased the rose gold ones as well. You could easily add a cute note about “a bright future” or “here’s to sunnier days” as a random surprise gift for a girlfriend.
This record player was something I found using the Amazon “New & Interesting Finds” search function and I’m so glad I did! It comes in white (which is what I got), black, and a wooden finish and plays all different sizes of vinyl records. It has a protective dust cover and the speakers are really good quality, especially for $39.95. I’ve had a blast putting on a record and making dinner the past few weeks. For some reason, it’s just way more fun than firing up a Spotify playlist.
#OBSESSED. Maybe my favorite birthday gift. BTW – Does that mean I’m getting old, like who wants a vacuum for their birthday? I love this little guy though. He’s easy to set up, gets the job done, and was way cheaper than his name brand competitors. The only person who doesn’t care for him very much is the dog haha.
I make sure I’ve picked up cords, curtains, etc. and then I turn this little guy on. He takes off and vacuums for almost two hours or until he finishes the space and then he drives himself home to his charger, docks, and starts charging. It’s not nearly as loud as a traditional vacuum, I can do something else with my time, and it’s just an efficient way of vacuuming the floors. I’m sold.
Capri Blue Volcano Candle
I really hope someone gets me this (Matt cough cough) since it seems like everyone I know raves about this Capri Blue signature scent. It comes in a variety of jars and designs to match any aesthetic. Since we’ve all been spending more time in the house recently, I’ve noticed that I’m running through my essential oil and candle stash quicker than usual. Anyone that sends a candle to my house is considered a great friend in my book. You could also bundle with some bath salts or an adult coloring book for a little social isolation self care kit.
The Simple Living Guide
I started reading this book in between my guided meditation and yoga stretching classes on Saturdays at Saffron + Sage. I couldn’t get enough and knew I needed it for my home collection. It’s also perfect for the friend who is making some life changes during this quarantine time. I personally have really been thinking about what my priorities are, what matters to me, what I want my house to be filled with, what I want my days to look like, etc. The author of the book, Janet Luhrs, says “simple living is about living deliberately. Simple living is not about austerity, or frugality, or income level. It’s about being fully aware of why you are living your particular life, and knowing that life is one you have chosen thoughtfully. Simple living is about designing our lives to coincide with our ideals.” Definitely add to your cart and your quarantine reading list.
First I downloaded tiktok, now I’m buying biker shorts haha. It’s a slippery slope but here we are. Let me know your favorite ways to style these shorts but at $17 for a three pack, I figured why not take the chance and try them out. After all, it’s not like I’m going anywhere soon so I’ll have plenty of time at home to perfect my look.
Jesus Calling Devotional
The ladies over at Two Peas In A Prada (check them out if you haven’t, they’re my favorite!) recommended this daily devotional. I read The Daily Stoic and The Book of Awakening each morning but struggle to read my Bible without a prompt or a little direction. I’m looking forward to adding this to my perfect morning routine. In these uncertain times, I’ve found that the days I stick to my morning plan, I’m just in such a better place mentally.
While this purse organizer is a practical and not so much a knock your socks off gift, I feel like so many of us are organizing and purging during this time. My Louis Vuitton Neverfull is just a deep dark pit of despair, wrappers, and old receipts. With different sizes and color combos, this would be a great gift for your girlfriend who is getting OCD with the organization right now. You could even add in a cute keychain or hand cream.
While Matt was on deployment last year, I got a side hustle working at a local spa, Spa Kingston, helping with their marketing. (If you go, let them know Katie sent you!) I learned SO much about skincare during that time and with the extra time on my hands recently have really looked into perfecting a skincare routine that works for me. I already have a beauty mini fridge (sheet mask & crystal roller game changer!), a high frequency machine, a Clarisonic, and some great products but the one thing I really miss about the in-spa experience was a facial steamer. I can’t wait to add this to my collection to really complete my self care & skincare routine. It could also be fun to host a little Zoom “spa night in” party with your girlfriends!
