My Blogging Goals For September

Today I’m breaking down my blogging goals for the month of September. I launched my blog in April as a fun passion project and way to continue advancing and testing my digital marketing skills while I was furloughed from my full time role. I ended up going back to work in May and things really took off (we opened two new restaurants!) so Chit Chat With Katie definitely took a backseat and I really didn’t do any blogging for a couple months.

I decided in August that I wanted to start blogging again so I started doing some behind the scenes work, researching, developing a schedule, putting some systems into place, etc. I actually had my first profitable month as a blogger in August too! You can read more in my August Income & Traffic Report if you’re interested.

So now, we’re in September and I’m feeling really good about my plan and blogging journey! If you read My Personal Goals For September, you know I’m focusing on routine this month which ties in so nicely to my blog goals as well.

My Blogging Goals For September

Publish 25 Pieces of Content

I’ve set lofty goals before (looking at you 75 pieces of content from My May Blogging Goals), so this time around I’m keeping things more manageable. I do have a Google Drive folder of over 50 half written blog posts already and honestly, I’m adding new ideas all the time so the list keeps growing. I’ve already developed my content calendar for the month and there’s a nice mix of brand new posts I want to write and posts that are either an outline or half written that need to be finished prior to posting. I definitely think this goal is doable, especially since my morning routine is going well and I’ve started writing for an hour each morning.

Finish My RankMath Tutorial/Set Up

I’d say I have an intermediate knowledge of SEO since I’ve worked with different aspects of SEO in my full time role for years now. After some issues in August with the free version of Yoast, I started doing some research and noticed in a lot of Facebook Groups For Bloggers, that people had switched over and were using RankMath.

I checked it out and liked the functionality so I made the swap as well but haven’t done a deep dive into all the different components, options, and best ways to optimize. This is one of my priorities for the month since I know how important SEO is for any site or blog.

Create 50 Pins

Oh the love and hate relationship I have with Pinterest. 100% unarguably a great tool to drive traffic to your website but I hate trying to come up with clever and new pins all the time. After I write a blog post, get my images, optimize, and publish the last thing I want to do normally is create ten pins and test them but that’s the name of the game.

I’ve been tracking my traffic each month and know that Pinterest is so good for my blog so this month, I’m getting back in the practice of setting aside time to produce & test pins. I’ve also thought about creating easy Canva templates and selling them to other people who are in the same position as me so if that’s something you’d like to see added to my shop, let me know in the comments below!

Complete A Full Blog Audit

I prepared my outline in August and now need to finish the process. Although a new blog, Chit Chat With Katie is overdue for some TLC. I want to go back through all blog posts & pages and make sure my images are displaying, links are still correct, discount codes are still valid, a little “fall cleaning” if you will. I’m all about helping others through my content so I’m determined that the CCWK user experience matches and is the best it can be!

Take Photos Of Myself

It seems like I’m always struggling to produce high quality photos of myself for my blog content so I want to get back in front of the camera this month and complete a photo shoot. I’ve been eyeing the upcoming Shoott options in San Diego and am just waiting on some new wardrobe options to come in and honestly, this maskne to clear a little lol

If you’ve never heard of Shoott, I did a full recap of my recent photo shoot with them here. They’re a great affordable choice for not only bloggers but anyone who wants some new photos.

Reach Out To Three Companies

While my traffic isn’t necessarily high enough for paid partnerships right now, I’m loving sharing my favorite brands and finds with my readers even without a financial incentive. I honestly think that’s one of the hardest areas to navigate as an influencer or blogger these days.

I’ll never recommend something that I don’t use and love myself. If I wouldn’t share it with my best friends and readers for free, then it doesn’t deserve a spot on the blog.

I understand paid partnerships are a huge reason a lot of influencers & bloggers are able to make a living and more power to them, but there are so many people out there recommending all sorts of products that you can just tell they don’t use & love personally. That’ll never be me. I want my audience to be able to trust my opinion & recommendations and if I’m able to make some money doing it, added bonus, but honestly that will never be my main focus with CCWK. I’ve got other plans…insert wink face here.

Now that being said, I have some really special small businesses in my favorites list that I love sharing with friends. I know this year has been a crazy rollercoaster and marketing budgets are tight so I want to do my part and see if I can help these companies, produce & share my content, and spread the word about their offerings. Hopefully you’ll really enjoy these features.

Website Traffic Goals

The last section of my September blogging goals outline some number based goals. Here are my website & social goals for the month:

  • 1,000 Page Views (I’ve been averaging around 300 views a month the last three months)
  • 400 website sessions (I’ve been averaging around 200 sessions a month the last three months)
  • 350 followers on Instagram (Currently sitting at 283)
  • 10 Instagram Posts

As always, I’ll be back at the end of beginning of October to add an update and report back on progress! What are your blogging goals this month?

      Thanks Bjha,
One step at a time! There’s so much I want to do with my blog that I sometimes have to remember, I’m just getting started and to give myself a little grace. Welcome to the blogging community!

I’ve been blogging for a year and for now seem to only be able to keep it at 2 posts per month, with a full-time job. And it’s already too busy. Manageable but busy. Can’t imagine to put up 75 posts. Great ambitions! Keep it up!

Thanks Sonia! I was furloughed at the time and working on my blog full time so I didn’t think it was that far fetched since I was doing a lot of writing at the time. Spoiler alert – I went back to work full time (and then some!) halfway during the month and my blogging took a definitely back seat for a few months. I’m now in a pretty good groove where I batch a lot of my content and have a lot of partially written pieces that just need to be wrapped up so I’m hoping I’ll make my goal of publishing 25 posts this month!

Well done for setting goals for the month, I started 3 years ago, at the time I was a single mum, working part-time and full-time student. Blogging was like an escape from my busy lifestyle. Now, I have more time on my hands to work hard on it. And I love it.

I’m in the exact opposite boat! haha I had all the time in the world to work on it when I first started and now it’s my escape from my busy life but I’m like you in that I still absolutely love it!

Love to chit chat. Thanks for sharing your goals. I haven’t used Pinterest yet. You mention love/hate … makes me wonder if I should dive in and give it a go.

Pinterest is definitely a HUGE driver for blogging traffic so I’d definitely suggest giving it a try! The “hate” part of my Pinterest relationship comes from changing algorithms, testing techniques, etc. but I can’t ignore the impact Pinterest has had on driving traffic to my blog!

I love this so much! We have very similar goals for this month. If my blogging to do’s don’t get written down they don’t happen.

Right Lyssa? There’s just something so real about writing down your goals and I’ve found that by publishing them online, I hold myself even more accountable!
