Through this social isolation and quarantine time in our lives, I’ve started really getting into my journaling, meditation, reflection, and positive mindset practices (like my 31 Things I’m Grateful For post). I’m spending this time slowing down and being deliberate and thoughtful with my actions, words, choices, and how I spend my time. One of the ways I set myself up for a great day with a positive mindset is through my morning affirmations. I’ve had these affirmations written in my journal for the last few weeks so I figured I’d type them up and share them with you all! Feel free to take one, a few, or the list (and make any personal adjustments you’d like) if they speak to you.
Here are some of the affirmations I’ve been using in my morning routine
I am thankful for everything I have in my life. (Case in point, this recent post!)
I use my intuition and intelligence to guide me at all times.
I create more opportunities in my life.
I am able to let go and follow my heart’s desire.
I am the creator of my reality.
I attract my desire in unexpected ways.
I am grateful for the pain I once felt because it made me stronger and wiser.
I am more aware of the opportunities that are already present in my life.
I have the courage to follow my dreams.
I trust my intuition to make the right decision.
When opportunity arises, I have the courage to take action.
Taking action is easy and effortless for me.
I have already manifested my desires.
I don’t think about how I attract my desires, I just let it go and trust the universe is bringing me what I want.
I am so grateful now that I have received my desire.
How do I recite my daily affirmations?
I have to admit, reciting my daily affirmations out loud didn’t come naturally or easy to me. I definitely felt out of my comfort zone but as I started fine tuning my ideal morning routine & got more into my reading and meditations, I now look forward to the daily practice. I started reading my affirmations and now end my morning reading & meditation and prayer time with reciting them out loud. I’m in a comfortable seated position in my bed and I just read them out loud. Some people recite their affirmations into the mirror but for me, that didn’t feel good so I found something that worked for me.
How often do I do my affirmations?
I recite my affirmations at least every morning. I’m also working on creating a bedtime/wind down routine that works for me but if we’re being honest, I often forget to incorporate my affirmations at the end of my day. I also have an alarm that goes off at 2pm to remind me to check in with myself and recite my affirmations. Depending on the day, I normally remember and make it but sometimes I’m in the middle of something and skip my afternoon affirmations. I’m still figuring out what works for me (and what I can consistently keep up) but you should aim to recite your affirmations two or three times a day for at least thirty days. Then, check in with yourself and see how you feel and how your wellbeing and mental state has changed.
How Did I Pick My Affirmations?
You’ll notice my affirmations are not specific things like, “I am confidently checking my bank account balance after receiving a bonus at work” or “I am joyfully celebrating my first paid brand partnership”. At this stage of my journey and with the state of the world, statements that were a little less specific simply felt better to me right now. I know, I know, isn’t the point that we’re manifesting and speaking our wildest desires into existence? Yes technically, but we also owe it to ourselves to honor where we’re at and what we need right now. Right now, I need a positive mind and happy heart each day. The affirmations I’ve been reciting daily, speak to that truth and to what I want to happen in the future, without being really specific. It works for me but if you feel called to write and recite very specific affirmations, go for it!
What Changes Have I Seen From My Affirmations?
I’ll be honest. I fell off the wagon a little more than a week ago. Leading up to Easter and my birthday I was in a mental slump and just uneasy, unhappy, confused, and overwhelmed. I had pinkeye and didn’t feel well, the weather was crap, it was just a mehhhh week. I took a few days to really explore how I was feeling and really slowed down my body, mind, and routine. So. Many. Naps.
Once I started to make the commitment to get back to the positive place I had been before, I slowly started getting back on track with my self care practices. My skincare routine was once again completed each morning and night. I started moving my body again. I completed my morning readings, I was meditating, I started my affirmations again.
I haven’t been reciting my affirmations consistently long enough to really give a definite answer but I can say I’m in a much more positive mindset right now. It could just be the natural ebbs and flows of life (especially during a pandemic) but if I look forward to my affirmations as a part of my day and like how I feel after my practice, why would I be cynical of their impact? If you’ve been toying around with the idea of reciting daily affirmations, just try it! What do you have to lose?
